Mediterranean Festival Activities

CHURCH TOURS 11:00-7:00 pm (Sanctuary)

If you've previously taken a church tour, be sure to stop by again this year as we have many beautiful liturgical items, relics from saints and handmade, colorful vestments on display. Come see the beautiful hand-painted Byzantine icons covering the walls of our sanctuary and learn about their significance in Orthodox theology, as well as many other aspects of Eastern Christianity and the history of the Christian church. The sanctuary is open throughout the day for self-guided tours. Clergy and parishioners are available for guided tours and questions.

Door Prize 11:00-7:00 pm (Front Entrance)

Be sure to sign up for the door prize at the front entrance! This year's prize basket is full of goodies!

Ethnic Dancing 11:30-2:30 pm (Dining Hall)

Join us for live music and dancing! From 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, we have professional, costumed dancers performing traditional ethnic dances. In addition to performing a variety of pre-arranged dances, we are giving lessons and inviting guests to join in the fun!

Balloon Twisting

Watch for our professional balloon twister. Silly hats are strongly encouraged!

Byzantine Art Demonstration 11:00-3:00 pm (Outside the Sanctuary)

Watch our Byzantine artist hard at work painting a traditional religious image called an icon, which Orthodox Christians have used in worship for over 2,000 years. This is the same icon that we will raffle off. Coloring pages are available for kids.

Byzantine Art & Music Presentation 11:00 and 3:00 pm (Outside the Sanctuary)

Join us in the church sanctuary for a presentation on Byzantine art, its history, development, styles, and symbolism. We'll then switch over to eastern style music, its history and how it is different from western style music. We will demonstrate each of the eight different tones (or scales) of music used in Orthodox worship. Stay for our Vespers evening service at 5:00 pm and listen to many of the eight tones.

Vespers Evening Service 5:00 pm (Sanctuary)

We invite you to join us for evening prayers at 5:00 pm in the church. Experience this ancient service and the beautiful Byzantine chanting, icons, and scripture within the context of worship
