Beloved in Christ,
Christ is born!
I hope you all had a merry Christmas, and I wish you a Happy and Blessed New Year!
As you know, we continue our celebration of Christmas throughout December and then move into the season of Theophany when we celebrate the baptism of Christ, the revelation of the Holy Trinity, and the beginning of Christ’s earthly ministry. During the Theophany season (between January 6 and the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee—February 5 this year), it is traditional for Orthodox Christians and catechumens to have the parish priest come to bless their home with some of the holy water sanctified at the Theophany Liturgy (Thursday, January 5, at 6:00 pm this year).
If you wish to sign up for a house blessing during this year’s Theophany season, please fill out the information below and return it to me via e-mail (preferred method), or fill out the sign up sheet in the foyer at church. The attached document will be used during the house blessing service (I will bring several copies with me; I include this one simply for reference). Please pay special attention to the instructions in red italics to prepare for the house blessing before my arrival. For those of you who are new to our church or who have never had your home blessed, please feel free to contact me or speak to me if you wish to learn more about this beautiful tradition.
Once people begin signing up, I will contact you to arrange a date and time for the house blessing that works for all of us. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Yours in Christ,
Fr Aaron
