Other Notes
(1) CRAFTS, FOOD, & FUN: We will be hosting this event for kids ages 3 and up on Saturday, July 29, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. See the exact details on the flyer linked below.
(2) ARCHDIOCESE CONVENTION: I will be out of the office the week of July 24 to attend the biennial Antiochian Convention in Phoenix, AZ. We will still have all the regular weekend services on July 29 and 30. If you need to contact me for pastoral reasons, please feel free to call, e-mail, or text as usual. I will return your message ASAP.
(3) DORMITION FAST AND SERVICES: From August 1 through August 14, we observe the Dormition Fast in honor and preparation for the Great Feast of the Falling Asleep (“Dormition”) of the Mother of God. During this fast we will offer the PARAKLESIS (“SUPPLICATION”) SERVICE TO THE MOTHER OF GOD at 6:00 pm on August 3 and 9. We will celebrate the DORMITION itself on Monday, August 14, with Festal Matins (5:15 pm) and Divine Liturgy (6:30 pm). During the fast we abstain from meat, dairy, fish, wine, and oil. However, wine and oil are always allowed on Saturdays and Sundays. For the Great Feast of the TRANSFIGURATION (Sunday, August 6) fish, wine, and oil are allowed.
(4) TEACH ME THY STATUTES PODCAST: If you would like to listen to this week’s Teach Me Thy Statutes podcast (with Fr Aaron & Jason Ewertt), you can find it here: https://tmts.transistor.fm/.
(5) PASTORAL VISITS: If you would like a pastoral visit for any reason, or if you know of a family member/parishioner who needs a visit, please feel free to contact me via cell phone at 204-6725.
Yours in Christ,
Fr Aaron
